Could you become a trustee for Pinpoint?
We are looking to grow our Board of Trustees. Together, the Board and staff team, work to improve the lives of families with children and young people with special educational needs and or disabilities (SEND) in Cambridgeshire.
We are looking for enthusiastic trustees to join our team:
- parent carers with children or young people aged 0-25 with additional needs in Cambridgeshire who have experience of the Special Educational Needs system or post 16 services
- people with business skills able to help us grow our charitable work such as finance, HR, teaching, training, social media or legal expertise
We have monthly online Board meetings of two hours during term time, and some Board members also serve on other working groups such as the Finance sub-committee. There is some reading for meetings, but it is not unduly onerous. You will need access to a computer and the internet to join meetings, receive email and meet online. We are not able to pay you for your time, but we are friendly and welcoming group, and your time and effort will be much appreciated.
Training and mentoring would be available to support you to take on this trustee role and in the past, gaining skills and confidence as a trustee has enabled several parents to go on, or back to, paid work. You can make a real difference to families and SEND services in Cambridgeshire!

This May Help: Advice for supporting your child’s mental health
This May Help is a new national initiative providing mental health advice to parents and carers.
This May Help is aimed at parents and carers who may have concerns about their child’s mental health and is part funded by the Quality Improvement Taskforce for Children and Young People’s Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Inpatient Services.
The website gives easy-to-follow advice to help families manage their child’s mental health. The advice was developed by NHS professionals and parents who’ve been through their own child’s mental health journey.
Professionals who work with children are also being encouraged to use the website.
The advice covered on This May Help includes:
How to support your child’s mental health,
Self-harm,
Gaming and online activity,
Teenagers safety,
Eating disorders,
School avoidance,
Understanding mental health,
Understanding teenagers,
Online threats,
Building rapport,
Building resilience,
Building a support network,
Self-care tips,
Managing an emergency,
Managing in a crisis,
(CAMHS) appointment preparing for a children and adolescent mental health services appointments .
The subjects were chosen by families and young people who have gone through their own mental health challenges. Gary Lineker, Myleene Klass, and Tanni Grey-Thompson are amongst 16 presenters featured in the films.
